HIDDEN FIGURES

The movie is about how 3 Africa-American women contributed a lot in NASA for the success launch of “friendship 7”

Here are the 8 reasons to watch this movie.

  1. IMDB score: 7.8
  2. This movie is based on a true story.
  3. Achievement: In 2016, Melfi co-wrote, directed and produced Hidden Figures, for which he received Oscar nominations for Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay.
  4. It promotes inclusivity. In 1961, people are segregated by race and sex. (Katherine had to go to a colored washroom in another building because she was not allowed to use the washroom inside the workplace). Eventually, the team leader Harrison had to smash the colored-washroom sign to make it clear that we are all equal.
  5. It promotes faith. I still remember when Harrison’s staff members felt discouraged, he said to all that “to me, I am already there”. – Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. Hebrews 11:1
  6. Following the successful Soviet Union‘s launch of Yuri Gagarin, pressure to send American astronauts into space increases. Under that pressure, Harrison led by example by calling his family members to say that he will need to work extra time and walk extra miles to send US astronauts into space. Many of his team members did the same thing and they devoted themselves to their mission.
  7. It promotes courage and justice.
  8. The movie is wonderful for kids who are interested in the aerospace industry and who are keen on taking adventure, and exploring the unknown.
