The life of pi
Early life
Pi grew up in India, and his father has a zoo where a tiger called “Richard Parker” was also raised. In India, he was told that there are 30 millions gods in the world. He was also introduced to Jesus Christ by missionaries, and to Allah, the Muslim God. But his father believed science only and he is a very rational person. However, his mother confronted his father that science can only tell the world outside, but could not touch what is in people’s hearts.
Start of Adventure
For some economic concerns, the father decided to move to Winnipeg in Canada. Facing uncertainty, Pi’s life journey started. In a stormy night, the ship sank, and out of all his family members, he was the only one survived, along with a zebra, a tiger, a monkey, and a hyena.
The adventure in a lifeboat on the stormy sea
Eventually, the monkey, the hyena, and Zebra all died, and the only living creatures in the lifeboat were him and the tiger. He had to learn to live with the tiger peacefully. On one occasion, the tiger almost killed him, and on another, he saved the tiger’s life from water out of mercy. In this journey, he experienced suffering, despair, fear, and sorrow. Sometimes, he would think of his mother, his father, and his brother, and other times, he learned to catch fish and feed the tiger and him also and started to find meaning in this suffering. He built himself a shelter which gave him so much happiness.
At one event, facing a big storm and lightning, he saw the sky open, and a great beam of sunshine came down, and at this moment, he said to the tiger “he’s come to us” with joy beyond understanding, thinking that the savior has come to rescue him.
The rest and peace
Finally, he was saved and the tiger left him without saying goodbye. He established a family after survival and has two children, living peacefully after the storm and adventure.
The takeaway.
- Above all, do not lose hope.
- the tiger is his inner-self.
- Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope. Romans 5:3-4
I felt the following song (praise you in the storm) should be the theme song for the movie.
