the little women
Four little girls lived in a small town with their mother Marmee, while their father went for the American civil war.
- Meg is the oldest in the family.
- Jo is second oldest and she loves writing;
- Amy dreams about becoming an artist.
- Their little sister Beth loves playing piano.
Love your neighbour
They have a good neighbour. Mr. Laurance. He is a kind and generous man, who has a grandson called Lauri.
One day, Marmee saw their neighbour who was starving and she generously gave the breakfast to the poor neighbour, and when Lauri saw that, he gave Marmee’s family an even more wonderful breakfast on Christmas morning.
Beth has a wonderful heart, and one day she delivered some food to their poor neighbour, but unfortunately got infected by a disease.
Love and marriage.
Growing up, each girl chose their own lives.
- Meg chose to marry a man called John, who is not rich. In an event that she wants to buy a luxury dress, she and John had a long conversation, but eventually, John could not afford it. Later on, John changed his mind and tried his best to make her happy and at the same time, Meg changed his mind saying she did not want the dress any more. At wedding time, Jo was trying to convince Meg not to get into marriage. But Meg wanted to marry John and marriage was her choice and she wanted a home and companion.
- Jo, the main actress, went to New York and tried to become a writer. When she was faced with an honest criticism from a professor Friedrich, their friendship broke up and she went away. Out of all sisters, she has a free and liberal personality. Lauri loved Jo from the very beginning, and one day he proposed to Jo, but Jo was not ready and she had no faith in love and was afraid that they would eventually “kill” each other (meaning personality conflict)….
- Amy loved Lauri. At a particular time, Meg married John, Jo went to New York, and Beth was sick, her aunt suggested that Amy marry a rich man. Amy did not. Amy chose Lauri eventually and they lived happily.
Marriage is a difficult decision. If you do not get into a relationship, there is no conflict and love. If you do not marry, you feel lonely. It is a leap of faith and long-term commitment.
One interesting thing I noticed is that when the father of the little women returned from home, Marmee, who always appeared calm, gentle, strong, and generous, said to her husband that she can vent her anger to him IN PERSON. It is a difficult time to live in with four women living under a roof without a man. One night, when she was alone with her Jo, she confessed that she constantly feels anger every day, but she remembered God’s word, “Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry.” Ephesians 4:26
It is a wonderful movie to watch. I am very glad to see how neighbours love each other and sisters love each other and forgive each other when there is conflict and they all sacrifice themselves to take care of each other. In terms of marriage, two is better than one.
Other than the main theme of the movie, I like the music, scenery, and the acting of the main actress, Jo, is excellent.
